Superior conversational AI inspired by Korean shamanism

ShamAIn is a multi-modal embodiment of conversational AI (CAI) inspired by the beliefs and symbols of Korean shamanism. I recognized an opportunity to design a novel and alternative perception of CAI by leveraging how people accept these invisible shamanistic entities as superior to themselves. Thus, by integrating shamanistic elements into the design of CAI interactions, I intend for ShamAIn to evoke a superiority similar to that felt towards shamanistic entities. ShamAIn consists of an interactive booth where conversations occur and operating software that enables complex voice interactions utilizing LLM, Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Speech-to-Text (STT).

As the lead designer and researcher of this project, I took the initiative in all processes including ideation, concept design, hardware manufacturing, software development, study design and implementation, analysis of study results, and paper writing.
